DLA Piper and each independent law firm member of DLA Piper Africa owes strict duties of confidentiality to its clients. These obligations are set out in various legal, regulatory or other professional rules and are reflected in the respective terms of business and engagement documentation entered into with each client.
Before DLA Piper or a member firm of DLA Piper Africa accepts a new instruction, the relevant firm will ask for information about the potential client and the nature of the proposed work for the purpose of conflict checking, credit checking, client identification procedures and other bona fide purposes. This information (which may include personal data) may be disclosed to any DLA Piper entity and/or DLA Piper Relationship Firm and/or some or all of their members for such purposes.
