Reinforcement of Acts Without Booking an Appointment
We hereby inform the business community and other interested parties that the General Consulate of Portugal in Maputo has further extended the list of consular acts that will no longer require prior booking an appointment, a measure that entered into force on 1 April 2025.
From this date, the following acts began to be processed through an open-door system:
- Death registration
- Powers of attorney
- Certificates of residence
- Luggage certificates
The following acts are also exempt from the requirement of booking an appointment:
- Consular registration
- Electoral registration
- Certification of documents certified by MINEC
- Certification of in-person signature
- Travel authorisation for minors
- Collection of Citizen's Card
- Collection of Passport
- Birth certificates
- Marriage certificates
- Death certificates
- Single travel document
- Driving licences (certification)
- Proof of life
- Certified copies (public-form)
- Temporary passport
- Change of address on the Citizen's Card
- Activation / recovery of the digital mobile key
On the other hand, the following acts still require prior booking:
- Citizen's card
- Passport
- Birth registration
- Marriage registration
- Application for nationality
- Wills
Users aged 65 or over are exempt from the need of prior booking for all acts.
