Beneficial Owner Declaration by Non-Profit Organizations 2025
Under the terms of the Law no. 14/2023, of 28 August, the Ministry of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs urges all Non-Profit Organizations (Associations, Religious Confessions, Foundations and Foreign Non-Profit Organizations) registered in Mozambique, to declare their respective Beneficial Owners ("BO") with the Legal Entities Registry ("CREL") until the 27th of February 2025.
This decision results from Mozambique´s efforts for its removal of the Grey List of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), following the preparation of the sixth progress report to FATF.
Non-Profit Organizations that comply with this obligation within the deadline will be exempted from paying the corresponding emolument fees. Failure to register a BO and to comply with the rules contained in the CREL Regulation, may result in the imposition of sanctions, such as fines, without prejudice to criminal prosecution under the terms of the applicable legislation.
The information relating to the BO will be available, either remotely or in person, for consultation by the supervisory authorities, the Attorney General's Office, the Financial Information Office, the Tax Authority and others provided for by law. In addition, this information can be accessed by interested third parties, in person or remotely, through submitting an application.
Should you require any assistance with registering your BO, please do not hesitate to contact us.
