Chibesakunda & Co. Supports the Advancement of the Mumbezhi Copper Project by Prospect Resources
We are proud to have been at the forefront of legal and regulatory compliance for one of Zambia’s most promising copper developments, the Mumbezhi Copper Project. Spearheaded by Prospect Resources Limited, an Australian-listed mining company operating locally through its Zambian subsidiary, Osprey Resources Limited.
We have provided legal support that has been integral to the success of this project starting with the acquisition of the mining right to the discovery of a significant 400m x 400m copper anomaly at the Nyungu South portion of the licence area. This milestone discovery underscores the project’s strong potential to contribute meaningfully to Zambia’s copper output.
We are proud of our team members, Chilombo Malama-Chijikwa, Karen Mutale-Mumbi, Robert Siulapwa and Tito Mwandemena who have acted as trusted legal advisors throughout this journey. Their expertise has guided Osprey Resources in navigating Zambia’s complex mining regulatory framework, leading to the successful conversion of its large-scale exploration licence into two large-scale mining licences, a critical step towards full-scale development and production.
This achievement not only demonstrates our firm’s capability to support large-scale mining transactions, but also reflects our broader commitment to advancing Zambia’s economic development. By enabling the responsible and strategic exploitation of mineral resources, we contribute to the national vision of producing three million tonnes of copper annually, as outlined by the President of the Republic of Zambia.
We remain dedicated to collaborative partnerships that unlock opportunities in the mining sector, ensuring compliance, sustainability, and value creation every step of the way.
