Rominah Butetsi specializes in insolvency, recoveries and restructurings and commercial dispute resolution. Rominah’s insolvency practice encompasses insolvency procedures, business restructuring, debt recovery, debt restructuring and rescheduling and dispute resolution. Rominah advises several commercial banks, micro-lenders, special-purpose investment funds and multinational corporate entities on various insolvency and recovery matters. In disputes, Rominah represents clients on a wide range of banking and commercial law matters.

Experience has included advising:

  • Recovered assets purchased under Vehicle Asset Financing from a grain processing company for Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited.
  • Acting for Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank in the conduct of a receivership of a pharmaceutical manufacturing company to recover US$ 5,781,684.
  • Advising Trade Development Bank, Vivo Energy Uganda Limited and NCBA Bank Uganda Limited as secured creditors in the insolvency proceedings of a leading construction company
  • Stanbic Bank for the realization and enforcement options for securities held under numerous lending transactions (term loan and asset finance facilities).
  • Acted for Stanbic Bank in the recovery of UGX 12,000,000,000 from a leading rice processing factory in Uganda. 
  • Representing dfcu Bank in the recovery of UGX 6,000,000,000 from the Bank’s international customers.
  • Successfully advised clients on debt collection strategies and asset recovery procedures, including negotiating settlements with clients and creditors.
  • Assisted in a high-profile insolvency case involving a large-scale insurance company liquidation.
