Jemimah Jehopio is a commercial lawyer whose core practice area is corporate and commercial law, and legal and regulatory compliance. Jemimah advises corporate and financial entities on a wide range of legal, regulatory and transactional matters, working with in-house counsel, within the business operation and as local counsel.
Experience has included advising:
- British Broadcasting Corporation on the regulatory classification of its bureau’s operations in Uganda.
- Master Card Foundation on licensing and regulatory implications of an offshore entity conducting bilateral net settlements.
- Loop DFS on the application for licenses as a payment system operator, payment service provider and issuer of payment instruments.
- MTN Mobile Money, a payment system operator and a payment service provider, on the applicable regulatory corporate governance requirements.
- Catholic Relief Services on the legal, regulatory and tax implications of cross-border lending to Ugandan businesses.
- African Development Bank on a US$ 2 million corporate financing to a borrower for the purpose of making fertilisers available and affordable to Ugandan farmers.
- Stanbic Bank Uganda on the legal efficacy and enforceability of proposed digitisation of the lending process and collateral documentation.
- Vivo Energy Uganda as in-house counsel on a wide range of legal, regulatory and transactional matters.
