Ferdinand Musimenta’s dispute resolution practice covers commercial and civil litigation. He represents clients in both contentious and non-contentious mandates in numerous areas of law such as employment, banking and financial services, commercial contracts, insurance, workers’ compensation, negligence and product liability. Ferdinand’s experience includes acting for Stanbic Bank, Centenary Bank, Umeme Limited and other leading corporate entities in defending unlawful termination and dismissal claims. Additionally, Ferdinand acts for several top commercial banks in in recovery matters arising out of term loan and asset finance facilities and novel jurisdictional disputes related to the nature and scope of assessment of workers’ compensation claims. 

Recent Experience:

  • Successfully represented the National Social Security Fund in an action for the return of the Certificate of Title from Alcon International Limited.​
  • Successfully acted for Mwesekana Enterprises Limited in a UGX.22B claim filed by Larb Uganda Limited arising from a property dispute.​
  • Represented TATA in the case of Shelandra Kundra v Tata Uganda Limited, a case filed by the former Managing Director of the company.​
  • Successfully acted for Stanbic Bank Uganda in defending a claim for unlawful dismissal in Mulema Mawadri v Stanbic Bank a UGX.5.4B claim.​
  • Represented Umeme in defending against a claim for unlawful dismissal in Mujuni Nicodemus and others v Umeme Limited.​
  • Successfully prosecuted an appeal against the decision of the Labour officer in Stanbic Bank v Christine Karungi (Industrial Court).​
  • Represented Stanbic Bank Uganda in successfully prosecuted an appeal against the decision of the Labour officer in Stanbic Bank v Apollo Twinomuhangi.​
  • Hima Cement in successfully defending against a claim for unlawful dismissal in Ndyahebwa Godfrey v Hima Cement.​
  • Umeme in successfully defending against a claim for unlawful dismissal in Madina Baker v Umeme Limited; Emmanuel Wafula v Umeme Limited; and Muwonge Godfrey v Umeme Limited. Currently representing Umeme Limited in several similar cases filed by employees.​
  • Represented Centenary Rural Development Bank in precedent setting case of Kapio Simon V Centenary Bank in which the position on prospective earnings was set. Currently representing Centenary Rural Development Bank in matters filed by former employees​
  • Represented DFCU Bank Uganda Limited in a worker’s compensation case of Regina Nandawula V DFCU Bank.​
  • Successfully acted for Stanbic Bank Uganda in defending a claim for unlawful dismissal in Embati Sete William v Stanbic Bank .
