People

Vivian Kisakye specializes in all aspects of employment and employee benefits law, both contentious and non-contentious, and works with general and in-house counsel, employment advisers and directly with the operation in handling employment and benefits issues.  Vivian’s work has seen her act on several important mandates. She has acted on several top-level employment law audits and due diligence assignments for private entities and advised several industry-leading clients on corporate re-organizations. In corporate law, Vivian advises organizations (profit and non-profit) and in-house counsel on a range of compliance and transactional matters touching on regulatory affairs, commercial contracts, audit and due diligence, corporate governance, risk and taxation.

Experience has included advising:

  • A state-owned development finance institution on the overhaul and full-scale review of its human resource management policies and framework.
  • An international development organisation on a major restructuring that involved the collective termination of most of its employees and conducting a comprehensive labour law audit and review of all organizational policies and procedures relating to human resources management.
  • Several development organisations and diplomatic missions in Uganda on acquisition of corporate diplomatic status, treaty interpretation and diplomatic law generally. Renders routine legal relating to other key areas of concern for diplomatic missions including dispute resolution, employment and employee benefits, corporate and commercial law, immigration, tax, and a range of public law matters related to legal and regulatory compliance.
  • A leading asset financing company in a major corporate restructuring that culminated in the transfer of the entity's distribution business component and several of its employees to a new company.
  • Advised the largest global financial institution on the legal and strategic ramifications of recent significant statutory enactments and judicial decisions on the institution's in-country operations.

Professional Qualifications

  • Advocate admitted to the High Court of Uganda.

  • Makerere University: Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) Degree (2021)
