Monicah is an Associate in the Commercial Employment & IPT Practice Group. She advises a diverse range of clients on local, regional and international commercial matters including employment, intellectual property, data protection, information and communication technology.

Monicah has been involved in a spectrum of transactions on employment procedures and processes, review of HR Manuals and employment contracts, as well as the different termination options available. She has also been involved in the registration and regularization of various entities such as local and international NGOs, companies, and trusts. She is also part of the immigration team and advises clients on the different immigration options.

Monicah also assists clients with various compliance requirements under different regulatory bodies including the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) and the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA).

Experience has included advising:

  • As a team member, international tech firm on the redundancy procedure in Kenya and possible options for avoiding redundancy claims following a global restructuring of the firm.
  • As a team member, an international client on their data handling practices and data processing agreements.
  • As a team member, a multinational technology company on the legal requirements for operating cloud security services in Kenya.
  • As a team member, an international client on various aspects of employment law including return to work policies, claw-back policies, and flexible work arrangements in line with Kenyan law.
  • As a team member, various international Non-Governmental Organisations on the setting up and post registration requirements in Kenya.
  • As a team member, various local and multinational entities on the setting up options in Kenya and internal restructuring.
  • As a team member, an international drug manufacturing company on the removal and appointment of an LTR in line with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board regulations
